Bioinformatic Application Integration with Distributed Server Approach

چکیده

Many bioinformatic applications are computationally intensive. While many suggested using multiprocessor machines or distributed processing to handle computationally intensive programs, porting existing applications to these architectures and managing these applications are in general difficult. This paper proposes a distributed server approach which adapts the concept of peer-to-peer communications to address several issues in bioinformatic distributed processing. In particular, the XML-RPC is used as the messaging protocol for inter-server and client ommunications. This paper also discusses how such approach can be useful for web-based bioinformatics platforms. We will also discuss its limitations and advantages.
